In recent days, for professional reasons, we visited the beautiful Villa Litta Carini Orio Litta, a few miles from Lodi, near the river Po. 
Sometimes you travel for many kilometers and ignore places just behind your house: this building, both for the complexity and the majesty of green spaces, left us amazed. 
The villa, a "palace of delights", was completed in the mid-eighteenth century. At that time included a vast garden which ended with a small harbour directly on the river Po. Access to garden was three levels of terraces down and the surprise is that under the first level is a small "Ninfeo"
The main building is is not made up by the Villa, with spacious rooms richly decorated, but also by a complex of buildings that look out onto the side two courtyards and include a horses places, shed and one ancient ice room. Some parts would require restoration, but even in its present state do not lose anything to the charm. 
Part of the "European Heritage Days", which will be held Sunday, September 21, the villa will be open at 15.00. 
And Sunday will be a beautiful sunny day. Who could ask for more?
