Pavia City council
The ancient Mezzabarba palace, a noble eighteenth-century palace, has been the seat of the Municipality of Pavia since the unification of Italy, 1861 Built in XVIII century, in the recent years the building had gradually lost its beauty and delicacy due to the continuous and, often inopportune, maintenance interventions. Who could have imagined that, under the layers of acrylic color and paint, the soft and delicate late Baroque colors that had made this building a jewel in the city of Pavia could still be found? The work has been long and patient, but we managed to remove all the layers of color that oppressed the ancient decorations and the precious "marmorino" decorations around the windows, windows decorations and balconies, also finished in stucco, and the refined stone columns, oppressed by decades of smog and black crusts. After one year of work, Mezzabarba Palace is back to ancient magnificence.
