saving the sandstone facade

After the winter break we resumed in these days consolidation of the facade of the basilica of San Michele in Pavia. In the winter we acted to fix with epoxy resin flakes of sandstone that were likely to come loose and fall off during the winter, since the cold weather did not permit the use of consolidant products.

These days we are working to consolidate the parts of stone that have been fixed in advance. We currently do not have the resources to engage in a long and complex consolidation, but the attention aroused by our initiative, supported and publicized by the local media, has given us the chance to start a more bigger works than expected.

This intervention is the beginning of a series of actions to safeguard the protection of this extraordinary treasure of art: the next step has seen the intervention of a Senator who has obtained the resources to make more substantial intervention.

This will be better explaned in next articles, for now let us go up patiently on the platforms to fix what we do not want to be lost!
