During Ukrainian war, in 2022, the famous artist Banksy painted two artworks in the village of Borodyanka, hardly damaged by bombs and tanks. The two artworks are “The Gymnast” and “David and Golia” and are signed by Banksy himself. At the same time has worked another important artist from France, C 215, realizing in the same village more than 10 pieces.
These artworks were in danger, some buildings they were painted on were to be demolished to be reconstructed, the local community asked for an emergency consolidation.
We did the restoration in wartime, in four different stages driving from Italy and offering our service for free, to give our support “our way”. Our experience on this kind of artworks comes from other 4 pieces of Banksy we have restored in England before.
The whole story of this “Saving” is told in a documentary called “Arte Vs Guerra” (3dProduction, in Italian, English and Spanish) and in a book named “Fixing Banksy”, FVE editions, in italian.
